This is how Plus & Minus solves the problem of project management.
Here is the data:
Project Management Data
You are a real estate developer |
The name of the project is Paradise One |
There are 26 pods of buildings |
Each pod has 6 buildings |
Each building has water, sewer, gas, electricity, and 2 cable connections |
Each building has 3 floors |
Each building has 2 240-volt power outlets; 1 on the second floor for the dryer and 1 in the garage for an EV |
Each floor has carpeting in the bedrooms, living areas, and tile in the bathrooms and kitchen |
Plus & Minus doesn’t care if you use the Work-In-Process or an Expense General Ledger code. The user can make an adjusting entry at the end of an accounting period.
Plus & Minus has 999,999,999,999 sub-accounts for each General Ledger code.
General Ledger Sub-accounts
XXX | First three numbers to indicate the number of the project |
XX | The number of each pod |
X | The number of the building within each pod |
XX | The number of the floor within a building |
X | The number of the utility |
X | The number of the 240-volt lines |
X | The type of flooring |
Thus, the sub-account code for the 1 project, 3 pods, 5 buildings, 1 gas line with a 240-volt electrical line going to the second-floor laundry room with tile flooring would be 101035223.
The code for the electrical line to the third floor would be 101035200.
In a true construction project management software program, each one of these lines would have a budgeted number of hours and dollars. And all costs would be charged against these budgeted line items.
