How to double your money in one hour!!!
This is a true story about how we at Plus & Minus doubled our money in one hour. No, we didn’t just fold the money in half. We actually wrote the check itself which was double the amount of money we quoted the customer. And, we are proud of this!!! And the customer was ecstatic.
The client was a construction company. The owner needed an accounting program and didn’t have the office crew to tolerate the estimated 3-month installation process our competitor had quoted. Not only were we less expensive, but we were also quicker. The client lives and dies on a timetable. 3 months to produce an invoice for work done was intolerable to any company, much less a construction company.
The client asked how quickly could Plus & Minus get him up and running. We said it could take 3 hours or 1 day. It was just a matter of how organized he was with his Chart of Accounts. The client did have a Chart of Accounts that he was happy with and just needed those accounts loaded in and the Income Statement and Balance Sheet ready for production.
Then he bet us that we couldn’t get Plus & Minus running in 1 hour. We asked him if he would bet double or nothing to get the job done in 1 hour. The gauntlet was tossed. With 4 minutes to spare, we actually produced a check made payable to Plus & Minus for double the amount we originally quoted. He signed the check with a giant smile on his face. Plus & Minus was the first vendor loaded in and was the recipient of the first check produced. He was up and running, including the depreciation schedules on his equipment.
Actually, we doubled our money in 56 minutes, and we printed the check.
