To appreciate this article, you must appreciate how your car, literally a living room on four wheels, operates.

Fuel has to be pumped from a tank to a fuel distribution system which has to then send an exact ratio of air and fuel to a chamber. The fuel-air mixture is injected into the chamber at the exact moment that an intake valve is open and at the exact time that a piston is traveling up the chamber.

To make it even tougher, this all has to happen at the exact moment that an electrical charge is sent to a spark plug that is positioned in the chamber. The spark plug has an exact sized gap to allow the electrical charge to cause an explosion in the aforementioned chamber (i.e., a cylinder).

The explosion causes the piston to go back down the cylinder, which in turn causes a crankshaft to turn, which then spins a torque converter. This activates all the gears in your automatic transmission. Only then does the power from your gasoline activate the wheels on your car, and you can move forward or backward.

All that just to get some sushi? You might want to start giving some serious consideration to thanking your auto mechanic for making eating raw seafood possible.

Plus & Minus behaves like an electric vehicle (EV). The General Ledger is the battery pack that provides instant contact to “the wheels.” You conduct a sale, and the data goes immediately to the Revenue and Accounts Receivable accounts, to the Cost of Goods Sold accounts, and to the Inventory accounts, both for dollar amounts and Units of Measure accounts.

BAM!!! You are now accelerating down the digital highway at the speed of the ENTER key. That’s what makes Plus & Minus Accounting Software a powerhouse of data storage and reporting.

We really hope those folks making torque converters learn how to work on EVs.
